Aussies scared to take a break from technology

Cairns Weekend Post
"A recent OPTUS study found that the average Australian family takes more than four digital devices like mobile phones, cameras, laptops, and music players away on holiday."

Welcome to Port Douglas because we are digitally competent.
See The Keys to Port Douglas for your phone

Mobile phones are our friends.

Your phone is a better place to put info on than the fridge especially when the lights go out like they did on Xmas morning. On qwe.com.au is the Ergon web app which can tell you what the problem is during a power failure and when it will have the power back on.

The Keys to Port Douglas

"In addition to the financial benefits, the free Wi-Fi installation would enable the town to collect valuable data from users via short online questionnaires resulting in targeted marketing campaigns, allow businesses to offer last minute promotions, deliver information on upcoming events, and provide greater visitor satisfaction." Quote from Newsport 24 Apr 2012 about the MBS report.

The Keys to port Douglas can do this now (today) and do it for free.

Just let your visitors know about the Keys and put the Keys on their phone:

The Keys to Port Douglas

A revitalise Port Douglas Project has been put forward to unite the community.

Give our visitors the keys to the city. Give them something that they can use whilst they are here and take with them when they go. 99.99% of visitors have a mobile device of some kind and we can put a visitors guide on it. A mock up is at qwe.com.au/4877
How do I remember where it is? It is easy, qwe are the first 3 letters on a keyboard, .com.au we already remember, and 4877 is Port's post code.

See the screen button? Once you are at the keys "add it to the home screen" for iPhone/iPad or bookmark first for Android and "save shortcut to home".

What can locals do? Show the visitors they will do the rest.

Aerial display over Port Douglas

Legless, or nearly so?

This is a photo of a White throated Needletail taken by Wonga Beach identity David Cook. WTNT's are large swifts that migrate from their northern hemisphere breeding grounds to places like Australia in our summer where they are probably quite common. They rarely land and as a consequence of this they have small weak feet and legs - hence the term "legless".
On Sunday morning they were zooming over Port Douglas and Island Point in their hundreds. It is a light buzzing sound that will let you know that they are around.
